KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 13): The FBM KLCI advanced at mid-morning on Friday, in line with the gains at most regional markets, lifted by select blue chips.

At 10.10am, the FBM KLCI gained 5.36 points to 1,794.43.

The top gainers included Petronas Gas Bhd, Latitude Tree Holdings Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, VS Industry Bhd, Guiness Anchor Bhd, Press Metal Bhd, UMW Holdings Bhd and Tenaga Nasional Bhd.

The actives included Perisai Petroleum Teknologi Bhd, Asia Bio Energy Technologies Bhd, KNM Group Bhd, Scomi Group Bhd and TH Heavy Engineering Bhd.

The top losers included British American Tobacco (M) Bhd, Hong Leong Capital Bhd, Genting Plantations Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd, Gas Malaysia Bhd and Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd.

Asian shares gained on Friday on news of a ceasefire accord in Ukraine, while Sweden's surprise move to cut its main rate into negative territory and hopes of a resolution between debt-strapped Greece and its creditors burnished risk appetite, according to Reuters.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.8 percent. Japan's Nikkei slipped 0.2 percent but the broader Topix tacked on 0.1 percent, it said.

Hong Leong IB Research said it anticipated a mild rebound due to overnight gains from Dow but internal headwinds will continue to cap rebound near 1830 zones ahead of CNY holidays next week.
