KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): Malaysia state-owned investment arm Khazanah Nasional Bhd has appointed Treasury Secretary General Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah as director.

Khazanah announced in a statement today that the appointment was made at the 75th meeting of Khazanah’s board of directors on June 23 this year.

According to Khazanah, Mohd Irwan, who joined the civil service in 1984, held various positions in the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.

He joined the Finance Ministry in 2003 as principal assistant secretary of the economic and international division, before being appointed as treasury secretary general in 2012.

Mohd Irwan is already a director in several governtment-linked entities. These include Petroliam Nasional Bhd, Lembaga Tabung Haji and Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd.

Mohd Irwan, who is a board member of Bank Negara Malaysia, is also chairman of Retirement Fund (Inc), Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, Cyberview Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre.
