KUALA LUMPUR (April 27): Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (Kenanga IB) and Japan's Rakuten Securities Inc, has received a licence from the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) to provide online brokerage services.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Kenanga IB said Rakuten Trade has received the Capital Markets Services Licence from the SC.

In April last year, both Kenanga IB and Rakuten said the online platform will provide a new trading experience.

Rakuten Securities president Yuji Kusunoki also said the partnership provides an opportunity for the group to expand its business in Malaysia.

In a separate filing, Kenanga IB declared a final dividend of 2.25 sen per share for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016, payable on June 9.

Kenanga IB shares closed 0.5 sen or 0.83% lower at 60 sen per share today, bringing a market capitalisation of RM433.53 million.
