KUALA LUMPUR (May 9): Hotly contested parliamentary seats in Kelantan are witnessing more traffic than usual on throughout the first half of polling day for Malaysia's 14th general election.

Constituencies such as Kuala Krai, Ketereh, Pasir Puteh, Machang and Bachok have recorded higher than average travelling times.

Traffic is heavy along the Central Spine heading out of Gua Musang, with the crawl beginning at Kampung Laloh some 80km northeast of the latter.

A crash has exacerbated heavy congestion stretching past Kuala Krai going into Machang, while from Ketereh in the north is also slowed by an accident before Machang.

Machang and Ketereh were marginally won by BN in the last general election while Bachok, Kuala Krai and Pasir Puteh was narrowly snagged by PAS. 

All five seats will see a three-cornered fight between PAS, PKR and BN in GE14. 

According to the Meteorological Department of Malaysia, Kuala Krai is expected to see rain in the afternoon, while skies in Pasir Puteh, Machang and Bachok.
