KUALA LUMPUR (April 25): Shares in Iris Corp Bhd rose 2.78% in active trade this morning on news the group expects to make an announcement this week regarding the entry of a new substantial shareholder.

At 11:30am, Iris gained 0.5 sen to 18.5 sen with 55.02 million shares traded, ranking it a top active counter.

It is expected that the new substantial shareholder will be subscribing to the trusted identification company's shares through a 10% private placement exercise.

The Edge Financial Daily reported today, citing Iris acting chief executive officer Choong Choo Hock as saying that the company has engaged the investor and intends to announce the new development soon, confirming the business daily's report last Monday.

"At this point in time, we have engaged the potential investor and they basically have accepted our offer. Both parties will be making the announcement probably early next (this) week," Choong said last Friday.
