KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): Ire-Tex Corp Bhd has sacked its chief executive officer (CEO) Saharun Nizam Saharan five months after he was appointed to the post, on the grounds that his reply to a showcause letter was not acceptable.

The 47-year-old has been in and out of the company under different capacities since 1999, a filing with Bursa Malaysia showed today.

The packaging industry expert with more than 20 years of  experience joined the company in 1999, and resigned in October 2016 before being reappointed as its vice president in April 2017.

He was then made the CEO on Aug 7 and managing director on Aug 24 but retired from that latter post on Sept 19.

However, he continued as the CEO before being terminated by the board effective today.

Penang-based Ire-Tex has been in the spotlight since April 2017 due to a boardroom tussle between the largest shareholder Elite Cosmo Group Ltd and the company’s directors.

Its shares were not traded today. The counter closed at 14 sen yesterday, for a market capitalisation of RM20.03 million.
