KUALA LUMPUR (March 13): Leaders and captains of the construction industry will once again gather at the International Construction Week (ICW) 2018, which will be held from March 26 to 30 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here.

Themed "Achieving Peak Productivity", this year's event seeks to raise awareness among industry players in the area of construction technology and innovation as part of the Construction Industry Development Board, Malaysia's (CIDB) aim to improve the overall productivity and competitiveness of the industry.

Organised by CIDB, it will be officiated by Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

In a statement today, CIDB said ICW has grown to become a prestigious platform in Southeast Asia and is currently the largest construction trade conference in Malaysia. This year's event is expected to bring together over 100 exhibitors and more than 10,000 attendees.

A key highlight of ICW 2018 is the inaugural International Construction Transformation Conference (ICTC), which will be held on March 26 and 27.

At the conference, experts and industry captains from Malaysia and around the region will deliberate on the impact of technology and innovation in terms of increasing construction industry productivity.

Keynote speakers for the ICTC include Rajat Agarwal of McKinsey Capital Productivity Southeast Asia; Zhang Yue of Broad Group China; and Richard Kuppusamy of Lendlease Asia. In addition, ICTC will also feature Konvensyen Usahanita Binaan, which highlights leading women professionals in the construction industry.

“ICW 2018 signifies CIDB’s long-standing commitment to make Malaysia’s construction industry a global leader particularly in the areas of productivity, quality and safety," said CIDB senior general manager (policy and corporate sector) Sariah Abdul Karib.

"To achieve this, it is imperative that we continue efforts to enhance the productivity levels of the construction industry by synergising a highly-skilled workforce with modern construction technologies that are available today," she added.

ICW 2018 will also feature exhibitions, seminars and talks on the use of modern construction technologies such as industrialised building systems and building information modeling, new sustainable materials and energy sources, innovative design approaches as well as advances in digital technology, including the use of big data in construction.

Ecobuild SEA 2018, an event for sustainability in construction, will also be featured within ICW 2018. The event, which will take place from March 27 to 29 marks the fifth time that Ecobuild SEA is organised as the exhibition component of ICW.
