KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 13): Hup Seng Industries Bhd announced today that its Johor factory has resumed operations after thorough disinfection was carried out.

In a bourse filing today, the biscuit maker said its wholly-owned subsidiary Hup Seng Perusahaan Makanan (M) Sdn Bhd (HSPM) located in Kawan Perindustrian Tongkang Pecah, Batu Pahat, Johor, had received notice from the Ministry of Health (MoH) on Sept 11 to resume its operations commencing Sept 12.

The group added that thorough disinfection of the affected areas in the factory of HSPM was completed on Sept 7.

Previously, the biscuit maker had been instructed by MoH to temporarily stop certain parts of operations for seven days from Sept 5 to Sept 11.

“The health and safety of all the employees have always been the top priority of Hup Seng. In that respect, the group and its subsidiaries will continue to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) strictly,” it added.

At noon break today, shares in Hup Seng were up half a sen or 0.53% at 95 sen, valuing it at RM756 million.
