KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1): Hume Industries Bhd has announced the appointment of Andi Johnny Lapon as its group chief executive officer (CEO) effective Nov 1. 

Lapon, 45, hails from Belgium and has 22 years of working experience, including 15 years in the manufacturing industry, Hume said in a stock exchange filing. 

Lapon started his early career in finance as an accountant to complete his articleship prior to joining EcuLine as an international controller from 1999 to early 2003. Eculine is a global shipping company based in Belgium. 

In March 2003, he moved on to CRH Group, a Fortune 500 company and the second largest building materials group globally, as finance manager/finance director.

From a finance role, he moved up the ranks to work on merger and acquisition, turnaround and portfolio rationalisation, Hume said.

He was appointed as the managing director of CRH's construction accessories division in Asia in 2012. Lapon had held among others in the region at that time, the position of MD of Halfen-Moment Group until Oct 31, 2012. 

Hume’s share price rose 0.5 sen or 0.64% to 78.5 sen today, giving the precast concrete products' manufacturer a market capitalisation of RM376.09 million.
