SHANGHAI (Oct 11): China-based Huawei Technologies Co Ltd unveiled its full-stack and all-scenario artificial intelligence (AI) products and services here yesterday with a vision of building a fully-connected and intelligent world.

Huawei's AI portfolio includes its AI chips, Ascend 310 and Ascend 910, and Compute Architecture for Neural Networks, which is an automated development toolkit.

"Our AI strategy is to invest in basic research and talent development, build a full-stack, all-scenario AI portfolio, and foster an open global ecosystem," Huawei rotating chairman Eric Xu said here yesterday in his opening keynote speech at the Huawei Connect 2018 event.

Huawei Connect 2018, which started yesterday (Oct 10), ends tomorrow (Oct 12).

Yesterday, Xu said: "I hope we can all work together to turn AI into a practical reality, making it inclusive and available for all. Huawei is committed to working closely with our customers, partners, and academia to grow together, promote pervasive AI, and ultimately build a fully-connected, intelligent world."

He said Huawei's AI strategy focuses on five main aspects — investing in AI research, building a full-stack of AI portfolio, developing an open ecosystem and talent, strengthening existing AI portfolio, and driving operational efficiency.

He said Huawei's AI strategy is inspired by the future impact to the AI industry under an AI-powered era.

In a new era of AI-powered innovation, Xu said AI should be adaptable to all scenarios.

He said the "all-scenario" phrase refers to the different deployment scenarios for AI. These include public clouds, private clouds, edge computing in all forms, industrial Internet of things devices, and consumer devices, according to him.

Xu said Huawei is making inclusive AI that is more affordable, effective and reliable for the world.

This will be backed by Huawei's full stack of AI portfolio as the company is able to provide AI application developers with computing power and a strong application development platform.
