KUALA LUMPUR: Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) has inked a preliminary agreement with the Terengganu state government to jointly design the East Coast state’s digital transformation road map.

At the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday, Terengganu State Secretary Datuk Wan Nawawi Wan Ismail said the road map aims to bring the latest digital technology solutions to the state, with Huawei providing technical expertise and business support in implementing the plan.

“Connectivity is important in the socio-economic development of Terengganu, along with nurturing digital talents and fostering a digital market mindset. We look forward to partnering with Huawei in realising Terengganu’s aspirations to be empowered with a broad end-to-end ICT solutions portfolio, especially in the e-commerce space,” he said.

Wan Nawawi said the partnership would see the building of cost-effective ICT infrastructure and data centres promoting faster and stable broadband connection with a wider range of coverage.

“As a reliable digital infrastructure innovator and enabler, Huawei is committed to helping the state of Terengganu achieve digital transformation, in line with Huawei’s philosophy of building digital ecosystem for the nation,” said Huawei Malaysia’s chief executive officer Abraham Liu.

Apart from this, Huawei Malaysia also signed another three MoUs with SME Corp, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Sabah.

Liu said the MoU with SME Corp is to promote cooperation in research, innovation and talent development for small and medium enterprises.

Under the MoU with CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the ministry of science, technology and innovation, a “steering committee” that will meet twice a year to discuss issues related to standards of cybersecurity and approaches to identify and manage potential threats will be set up.
