KUALA LUMPUR (June 28): The Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) has formed a Governance Oversight Committee.

The committee has been given the mandate to assist the HRDF board of directors. It is tasked with oversight responsibilities which include reviewing all aspects of the board's governance framework.

Human Resources Minister M Kula Segaran announced the appointment of the board members today after the HRDF annual general meeting (AGM).

Members of the Governance Oversight Committee include former Secretary General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Tan Sri Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Fiona Soh who is a former director with Ernst and Young Malaysia, lawyer Fahri Azzat, S Dhamodaran who is an accountant and seasoned journalist R Nadeswaran.

"Like the 100 days' promise of Pakatan Harapan, this task force would also be given 100 days to complete their task," he told reporters after the AGM today.

In a separate statement today, HRDF acting chief executive Lim Kah Cheng said HRDF would continue its mandate of promoting efforts to up-skill, multi-skill and re-skill current and future Malaysian talents to be globally competitive.

"We also extend our full cooperation to the appointed Governance Oversight Committee, to further strengthen our governance, transparency and accountability as part of our efforts to contribute to nation building," he added.

Kula also shared during the AGM that HRDF members had requested a change in the external auditors of HRDF.

"We have taken this into account and will be looking to appoint new auditors for the next audit of HRDF," he said.
