PETALING JAYA (March 17): A fire that broke out at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur National’s Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) building has been extinguished with medical services unaffected, reported several news agencies.

The flames that broke out at a storeroom within the building at about 12.15pm were quickly put under control by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), said hospital director Datin Dr Akma Yusuf in a statement, according to The Star.

“According to the procedure, we evacuated staff and patients from nearby buildings,” she said.

No casualties or deaths have been reported so far, she added.

“The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire is still being assessed. I urge the public to not speculate and spread false information on the incident,” she said.

Meanwhile, a Bomba spokesperson said a distress call was made at around 12.30pm to report the fire, reported the Malay Mail Online.

Four fire engines were deployed to the IPFN building to control the blaze.
