KUALA LUMPUR: HeveaBoard Bhd announced yesterday the demise of its independent and non-executive chairman Tan Sri Chan Choong Tack @ Chan Choong Tak, aged 85.
In a stock exchange filing, HeveaBoard said it will announce the appointment of a new chairman in due course.
According to its 2017 annual report, HeveaBoard appointed Chan as its independent non-executive director on Oct 1, 2004, and on Feb 12, 2010, redesignated him as independent and non-executive chairman.
Chan was also a teacher, headmaster, Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia secretary general, a senator and president of the Senate in Malaysia.
HeveaBoard shares closed unchanged yesterday at 83 sen, with a market capitalisation of RM464.09 million. Over the past year, the stock has fellen as much as 45.25% from RM1.52.
