KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 11): Johor-based Harn Len Corp Bhd (fundamental:1.55; valuation: 1.80) executive chairman Tan Sri Low Nam Hui has passed away at the age of 97.

The group, which engages in oil palm plantation and oil milling operations as well as property investment and hotel operations, announced this in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Early last month, Harn Len Corp had announced several changes in its operations, namely the appointment of Low Quek Kiong, 63, son of Nam Hui, as the new managing director of the group and the re-designation of his brother Low Kueck Shin, 58, from executive director to deputy managing director. Another brother Low Kok Yaow, 26, was appointed as an executive director (ED).

Their mother and spouse of Nam Hui, Puan Sri Chan Pui Leorn, 56, was re-designated to deputy chairman from her previous role as an ED in the group on the same date.

Nam Hui’s other sons Low Kwek Lee, Low Kuek Kong and Low Kok Yong are also executive directors in the group. Harn Len is controlled by the Low family, who holds some 67% of shareholdings.
 
Harn Len shares closed the morning session 3 sen or 2.8% higher at RM1.10, with 10,100 shares changing hands. Its market capitalisation stood at RM200.32 million.
