KUALA LUMPUR (July 2) : GUH Holdings Bhd and fellow shareholders of Straits International Education Group Sdn Bhd (SIEG) are disposing of their stakes in the education group to Tenby Educare Sdn Bhd for RM52.5 million.

SIEG owns and operates international schools in Rawang and Penang.

GUH, which owns 25% of SIEG, said the sale of the stake will enable the group to de-consolidate a non-core business entity and focus its resources into other core businesses.

“Upon completion of the disposal, SIEG will cease to be the indirect associate of GUH,” it said in a bourse filing.

SIEG recorded a loss before tax of RM2.46 million as at Dec 31, 2020.

GUH’s share rose 2 sen or 4.71% to 44.5 sen today, valuing the group at RM119.49 million.
