KUALA LUMPUR (June 1): GUH Holdings Bhd appointed Datuk Gan Kong Meng, former Kuala Lumpur Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief, as its independent and non-executive director.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, GUH said that Gan's appointment will be effective from today and Gan was also the senior vice president (Corporate Integrity) and chairman (Credit Review and Risk Assessment) of RGB International Sdn Bhd.

Prior to the appointment, Gan served in the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) from 1976 to 2014. He also served as an Officer Commanding Police Districts (OCPD) Georgetown, Penang, before his promotion to Kuala Lumpur Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief.

He also held various posts in special branch, management and public order within RMP.

Gan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics in 1991 and a Master in Social Science (Anthropology/Sociology) in 2007 from University of Science Malaysia.

He obtained a Diploma in Police Science from University of Science Malaysia and University Kebangsaan Malaysia.

GUH is principally engaged in manufacture and sale of hybrid printed circuit boards.

The group is also involved in project management and construction for waste water and water treatment plant, property development as well as trading in electrical goods and appliances.

Shares in GUH closed two sen or 1.96% at RM1 for a market capitalisation of RM269.25 million.
