KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 14): G3 Global Bhd, formerly known as Yen Global Bhd, announced that it has appointed its major shareholder, Puan Chan Cheong, as its new non-executive chairman.

A clothing retailer and Internet-of-Things solutions provider, G3 Global said in a Bursa Malaysia filing today that Puan — better known in the market as CC Puan — is replacing Goh Kok Beng, who has been redesignated as executive director.

Puan is the founder of Green Packet Bhd, a technology developer of fourth generation long-term evolution (4G LTE) and WiMAX software solutions, a wireless broadband service. He is now a non-independent and non-executive director in Green Packet.

Currently, Puan is the second largest shareholder in G3 Global after Taiwan-based Gemtek Investment Co Ltd, holding 30.25 million shares via Green Packet. Puan's holdings in G3 Global is equivalent to a 22% stake.

As for Goh, he is the third largest shareholder in G3 Global, owning a 21.82% stake held via Extreme Lifestyle (M) Sdn Bhd.

Among the fashion brands distributed by G3 Global are Edwin and Mustang Jeans.

Listed since February 2004, shares in the Main Market-listed G3 Global rose one sen or 1.25% to close at 81 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM334.13 million.
