KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 23): Green Packet Bhd has bagged a contract to supply and assembly DVB-T2 (T2000) set-top boxes to television broadcasting company MYTV Broadcasting Sdn Bhd.

However, Green Packet did not disclose the contract value except to say that it will depend on the issuance of purchase orders by MYTV.

This confirmed The Edge Financial Daily's report, quoting sources, on Jan 18 that Green Packet had bagged a deal to supply set-top boxes to MYTV, which will help the communication and technology services firm become profitable again. The deal is said to be worth RM300 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Green Packet said it has entered into a contract with MYTV for the project.

"Under the contract, purchase orders may be issued by MYTV to the contractor from time to time for the supply of up to 3.6 million set-top boxes, provided that no further purchase orders will be issued after the expiry of two years," it added.

Green Packet said it will fund the project through internal funds and/or trade financing.

"The contract is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings and net share asset per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2018 onwards until the expiry of the contract," it added.

MYTV has been awarded the concession by the government to operate the infrastructure and network facilities for digital terrestrial TV services in Malaysia, which is to realise the migration of analogue terrestrial broadcasting to digital broadcasting.

Green Packet shares closed unchanged at 55.5 sen today, with 4.18 million shares done, bringing a market capitalisation of RM416.81 million.
