As a responsible corporate citizen, Glomac Bhd is mindful of the need to balance its economic aspirations with important community and environmental considerations in order to ensure a sustainable future for the group. Joining The Edge Kuala Lumpur Rat Race for the 17th time, Glomac has been a loyal supporter of the race since 2001.

The company believes the race is in line with its branding philosophy and corporate social responsibility programmes, which aim to promote a caring multiracial society and encourage the practice of giving back to society.

“By taking part, we are pledging our care and support for the less fortunate. That is what the Rat Race is all about,” said the team’s spokesman.

The race is a unique corporate event where funds are raised for charity while encouraging participants to lead a healthy lifestyle, says the spokesman. “We are proud to support and participate in this annual race as it is an excellent opportunity for corporate citizens to come together in this activity that encourages camaraderie, unity and sportsmanship.”

The race gives the team an opportunity to take some time off from their busy schedules, to have some fun, motivate and re-energise themselves. Furthermore, the team is passionate about the causes supported by the event, which is part of the company’s continual commitment and support of the less fortunate.

“While having fun, all the funds collected will be used to help those in need. At the end of the day, it is a win-win situation for all,” said the spokesman.

For corporate social responsibility programmes and good works, Glomac wishes to see the right efforts and that the funds are properly channelled, with transparency, to the beneficiaries.

“We hope more organisations will take part in this event next year as this is a noble way to give back to society,” said the spokesman.

Acknowledging the tough uphill course at Padang Merbok, the team jogs together and visits the gym to prepare for the challenge.

The spokesman said the runners have come together as a team during the training sessions. They come from different divisions of the company. “We also share strategies to tackle the course and remind each other to have fun, especially the first-timers.”
