KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): The newly set-up team to probe 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) will hold its first meeting tomorrow, one of the team leaders Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, the former Attorney-General, said today.

“We’ll have a meeting tomorrow. We will talk to you guys then,” Abdul Gani told Malay Mail after meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons at the Ilham Tower here earlier.

Abdul Gani, former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed and new MACC chief Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull were named as co-chairs of the 1MDB special task force together with former Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador by the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement today.

It is unknown if tomorrow’s meeting will be jointly held with another five-member 1MDB Committee formed recently which comprise PricewaterhouseCoopers partner in risk assurance Nik Shahrizal Sulaiman, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan Indonesia (the Indonesian financial services authority) senior adviser Faris Rabidin and Centre to Combat Corruption and Cronyism founder Cynthia Gabriel.
