PETALING JAYA (June 19): Negeri Sembilan does not have plans to offer free water supply, says Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun Aminuddin, adding that the state Pakatan Harapan did not make such a promise in its election manifesto.

He was responding to a report that Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan Sdn Bhd's (Sains) director Wan Rasdi Wan Ismail said the company was awaiting instructions from the state government to supply water for free.

The report also received comments from the State Malaysian Youth Solidarity Movement coordinator Eddy Noor Reduan, who said the state's capability to provide free water should be weighed carefully. Instead, the priority should be to resolve supply disruption issues in rural areas, as well as during festive seasons and the school holidays.

“It is preferable for the menteri besar to focus on resolving the water problems that were never resolved by the previous government,” Eddy said in a statement reported by Bernama yesterday.
