(May 15): The family of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will hold a solidarity event outside the Sungai Buloh prison on Wednesday, to mark their father's 100th day in prison as a political prisoner, his daughter Nurul Nuha Anwar said today.

Speaking to reporters at the Jalan Duta court complex today, Nurul Nuha urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to end the use of gutter politics, saying it had no place in Malaysia.

"We continue with our firm belief that our father Anwar Ibrahim is innocent and will continue our struggle to free our father from incarceration," Nurul Nuha, who is the March 2 Freedom coordinator said, urging people to join the solidarity gathering at the prison from 9pm until midnight.

Citing a report by whistleblower website Sarawak Report, Nurul Nuha also said Najib had hired public relations locally and internationally to vilify her father since 2010.

"What's more startling and troubling is the fact that public funds were used via the Prime Minister's Office to the tune of million to hire PR firms to orchestrate the unscrupulous attacks to denigrate Anwar Ibrahim," she said.

She added that evidence also pointed to the use of government machinery and local media in coordination with the PR team to tarnish and ruin her father's reputation.

"We are appalled and outraged by the damning evidence and it only proves our conviction that there has always been a conspiracy at the highest level to attack and bring down our father Anwar Ibrahim," she added.

She urged the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to check the reports on abuse of power and misappropriation of public funds. – The Malaysian Insider
