KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salle, a former group chief executive officer (CEO) of Pos Malaysia Bhd, is joining AirAsia Bhd’s new logistics arm, Redbox Logistics.

This was announced by AirAsia group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes in a Twitter post yesterday.

“Great to announce that Datuk Shukrie, formerly CEO of Pos Malaysia, has joined AirAsia in our new logistics arm, Redbox Logistics. A very powerful e-commerce Asean and Asian logistics company. Huge upside and value. We have planes,” Fernandes tweeted.

Last December, Pos Malaysia announced Mohd Shukrie’s resignation effective Dec 31 after five years with the company, citing his intention to make a career change, and Datuk Azlan Shahrim was appointed  the acting group CEO of the group.

The announcement came as a surprise to many and resulted in some selling pressure on the postal group’s shares.

On Jan 23 this year, Pos Malaysia named Al-Ishsal Ishak, 49, its group CEO effective Feb 2.

AirAsia shares closed nine sen or 2.09% higher at RM4.40 yesterday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM14.57 billion.
