KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 13): A former member of Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) board of directors, was charged in the Sessions Court today on 14 counts of accepting bribes as payments for his car instalment amounting to more RM23,000 in 2014 and 2015 from a printing company.

Datuk Noor Ehsanuddin Mohd Harun Narrashid, 56, who was also the former MP for Kota Tinggi was present in court, pleaded not guilty to all the charges read separately before Judge Azman Ahmad.

For his first to 14th charge, Noor Ehsanuddin who is a member of Felda’s board of directors was accused of receiving instalment payments totalling RM23,540.68 for a car with registration number WQP 329 owned by him through cheques from Karya Hidayah Sdn Bhd in which the accused knew was related to his official duty.

It was learned the vehicle is a BMW 3 Series.

Noor Ehsanuddin was accused of committing all the charges at Affin Bank Berhad, Taman Maluri branch at 250-252, Jalan Mahkota, Cheras, here between Feb 10 2014 and Nov 9 2015 under Section 165 of Penal Code which provides for a maximum of two years jail or/with fine or both upon conviction.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor Nor Diana Nor Azwa proposed bail at RM30,000 in one surety for all charges and the accused was required to report to the MACC every month as well as surrendering his passport to the court.

Counsel Datuk R. Thrichelvam who is representing Noor Ehsanuddin protested against the conditions to report at MACC office as his client is a busy businessman and did not have time to report himself.

Apart from that, Thrichelvam told the court that his client’s passport had already been surrendered to Johor Bahru Sessions Court after being charged with accepting bribes in the form of cash and land.

Nor Diana however said the condition would not be a problem as it was only once a month and she added that the accused would be charged at the Shah Alam Sessions Court tomorrow on several more charges.

The court allowed the accused to go on bail at RM30,000 for all charges and ordered the accused to report himself  at MACC office on the first week of the month and set March 14 for mention.

On Sunday, Noor Ehsanuddin pleaded not guilty at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court on two charges of accepting bribes worth RM50,000 and a piece of land from the printing company in 2013 and 2014.
