KUALA LUMPUR (June 5): The lawyer of former chief executive officer of AirAsia India Ltd Mrithyunjay 'Mittu' Chandilya alleged that Chandilya was falsely implicated in an audit report of the budget airline, The Economic Times (ET) reported yesterday.

ET, quoting Chandilya's lawyer Srinivas Mohanty as alleging that Chandilya was falsely implicated after he refused to lobby on behalf of AirAsia India to get India's 5/20 civil aviation rule modified or amended.

"The rule stipulated that Indian carriers couldn't fly overseas unless they had five years of operations and 20 planes," ET reported.

ET reported that AirAsia India had rejected the allegations. "AirAsia India Ltd has filed a criminal complaint against its former CEO, Mittu Chandilya. The matter is presently being investigated," a spokesperson said.
