KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 19): The foreign shareholding in Sime Darby Plantation Bhd rose to the highest in about three years at 10.75% as of July 29, 2022, from 10.68% a month earlier, according to the latest updates on the company’s website.

The lowest foreign shareholding on record was 8.94% as registered in July 2021 and again in January 2022, according to the company's chart, which dates back to December 2017.

The highest foreign shareholding on record was 13.92% in December 2017.

The figure of 10.75% for July 2022 was the highest in about three years since June and July 2019, when it stood at 10.52%.

The figure stood at 11.25% in May 2019.

Sime Darby Plantation’s major shareholders include Government-owned institutional investors Permodalan Nasional Bhd with a 55.67% stake and the Employees Provident Fund with 13.5% as of July 29.

The plantation company has 6.92 billion outstanding shares, according to its latest annual report.

At the time of writing on Friday (Aug 19), the counter was down one sen or 0.21% at RM4.70, giving it a market capitalisation of about RM32.52 billion.
