KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 12): Ford Malaysia saw a 30% jump in its retail sales to 1,095 units for the month of October, mainly due to strong demand for its new Ranger model.

In a statement today, Ford Malaysia said the Ranger model has seen a 48% increase in retail sales for October to 956 units, with year-to-date Ranger sales rising 14% to 7,770 units.

“The exceptional month was Ford’s best since March,” it said.

Ford Malaysia added that the new Ranger’s safety leadership was recognized yesterday (Nov 11) by the Asean New Car Assessment Program (Asean NCAP) and awarded a maximum five-star safety rating, with a total Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) score of 15.45/16 points, which is the highest of any pickup on sale in Malaysia.

“Safety is always Ford’s top priority, and the new Ranger’s 5-star Asean NCAP rating reflects [as to] how Ranger has re-defined the pickup segment in Malaysia,” David Westerman, Ford Motor Company's managing director for its Malaysia and Asia Pacific emerging markets, said.
