KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 15): Ford Malaysia Sdn Bhd sold 844 vehicles in September 2015, driven by its Ranger and Fiesta models.

However, the figure was 28.7% lower compared with 1,183 units sold a year ago, which was its best-ever September performance in Malaysia.

In a statement today, Ford Malaysia said the September result helped drive its third-quarter sales up 34% to 2,691 units from the previous quarter. The 3Q15 sales, however, were 27.2% lower than the 3,697 units achieved in 3Q14 — its all-time record quarter in Malaysia.

"The Ranger pickup continued as Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia, with September retail sales of 643 units.

"Overall third-quarter Ranger sales jumped 51% to 1,993 units, from the previous quarter. Year-to-date, Ranger sales have now risen 14% to 6,814 units," it added.

Ford Malaysia expects the new Ranger — which was launched on Oct 9 — to give overall sales an extra boost, through the end of the year.

“We look forward to reaching even more customers with the new Ranger, which builds on its reputation as the most capable, powerful and smartest pickup in Malaysia,” said Ford Motor Co's managing director for Malaysia and Asia-Pacific Emerging Markets, David Westerman, in the statement.

Fiesta contributed sales of 95 units in September, helping drive third-quarter sales up 33% to 322 units, from 2Q15.
