KUALA LUMPUR (July 14): GDEX Bhd (formerly GD Express Carrier Bhd) said today there has been a recent cybersecurity breach to its financial server, and that it has activated its Data Recovery and Security Mitigation Plan.

In a statement today, GDEX said investigations so far have shown there is no indication of leakage of confidential information, including customers' data.

"There is no financial impact reported. The incident has not resulted in operational impact on the group's current business operations," it noted.

"GDEX is cooperating fully with the authorities. The management has reported the incident to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and lodged a police report," it said.

Immediate and appropriate actions have been carried out to further reinforce existing security checks and safety measures have been undertaken to avert any future cybersecurity breaches, it added.

"We have always taken cybersecurity seriously by investing heavily in the necessary equipment and solutions. Despite the security measures and procedures put in place, we have regrettably fallen victim to an incident.

"I want to assure our customers that their data is safe and secure. At the same time, we are currently taking immediate and appropriate actions to further reinforce existing security checks and safety measures to guard against further cybersecurity breaches," said GDEX managing director and group chief executive officer Teong Teck Lean.

Shares of GDEX traded up half a sen or 1.52% to 33.5 sen at noon market break, valuing the logistics group at RM1.86 billion.
