KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 22): The FBM KLCI rose with Asian shares after US equities gained overnight. Malaysian shares rose today amid fund managers' year-end window dressing.

At 9am, the KLCI rose 1.43 points or 0.1% to 1,752.64 points. At 9:07am, the index pared gains at 1,751.22 points.

"Window dressing mood prevails," Hong Leong Investment Bank Bhd wrote in a note today.

Across Asian share markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.01% while South Korea's Kospi climbed 0.14%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 0.35%.

Asian shares tracked US equities' overnight rise. Reuters reported that the three main US stock indexes rose on Thursday, boosted by bank and energy stocks as investors bet on more economically sensitive sectors.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 55.64 points or 0.23% to 24,782.29, the S&P 500 gained 5.32 points or 0.20% to 2,684.57 and the Nasdaq Composite added 4.40 points or 0.06% to 6,965.36.
