KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 17): The FBM KLCI cut losses for a 1.05-point or 0.1% drop mainly on index-linked Genting Bhd's share price spike in the final trading minutes before Bursa Malaysia's afternoon break.
At 12:30pm, the KLCI settled at 1,753.32 points after falling to its lowest so far today at 1,751.95 points. Genting Bhd rose 13 sen to RM9.60 to become Bursa Malaysia's second-largest gainer.
"Key blue chips should congest ahead of the Deepavali break (tomorrow), as the recent trend of strong rotational plays in low-priced penny and ACE market stocks continue to attract retailers' participation," TA Securities Holdings Bhd wrote in a note today.
Across Bursa Malaysia, 1.58 billion shares worth RM878.3 million were traded. There were 242 gainers and 338 decliners.
Top decliners included Petronas Dagangan Bhd and Telekom Malaysia Bhd.
