KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 25): Eita Resources Bhd’s 60%-owned subsidiary has secured an underground cable works contract from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) worth RM48.83 million.

In an exchange filing today, Eita Resources said the letter of acceptance was received by its subsidiary Transsystem Continental Sdn Bhd today to undertake the 132kV double circuit loop in and loop out underground cable works from the Transmission Main Intake (or Pencawang Masuk Utama [PMU] of Gelugor to PMU Farlim and into PMU Datuk Keramat in Penang.

The job, which is effective from today, will take 730 days to complete.

The group said the contract will not have any material effect on its net assets and gearing for the financial year ending Sept 30, 2019, but is expected to contribute positively to Eita Resources’ earnings over the duration of the contract.

Eita Resources, is involved in elevator and bus duct systems manufacturing. The latest contract secured came on the heels of a similar project in Ampang announced on Tuesday.

The contract, which was also awarded by TNB to Transsystem, was for a 132 kV double circuit underground cable project in Ampang worth RM56.36 million.

At market close today, shares of Eita Resources finished two sen or 1.53% lower at RM1.29, with a market capitalisation of RM167.7 million.
