KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 24): DRB-Hicom Bhd shares fell as much as 2.20% in active trade this morning after its subsidiary Proton Holdings Bhd terminated its equity joint venture (JV) contract with China's Goldstar Heavy Industrial Co Ltd to produce and sell Lotus cars in China.

At 9.05am, DRB-Hicom was down 1.47% or 4 sen to RM2.69 with 2.55 million shares done. The stock had earlier slipped to a low of RM2.64.

Lotus Group International Ltd has also issued a termination letter to Goldstar.

DRB-Hicom said the contract, signed in 2015, was terminated because the JV company Goldstar Lotus Automobile Co Ltd had failed to obtain the required manufacturing licence in China in time.
