BAGAN DATUK (April 18): Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today visited a seafood-processing factory here.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Home Minister, spent about an hour at the Sen Up Huat Seafood Trading Sdn Bhd factory that has been operating since November 1980.

He met the board of directors of the company and was taken on a tour of the production process.

The factory produces frozen seafood such as squid and prawn mainly for export to Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.

Since 2004, many of the frozen products had been exported to the European market as well.

Ahmad Zahid, who was the MP for Bagan Datuk in the 13th parliament, also made a tour of the platforms over the sea near the factory.

The Rungkup assemblyman in the last Perak legislative assembly, Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya, and Bagan Datuk UMNO Division deputy chief Datuk Khairuddin Tarmizi were also present during the visit.
