KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) announced the retirement of Zainal Abidin Jalil as its group managing director (MD) today, after more than four years at the helm of the company.

In an exchange filing today, DNeX said his retirement, which would take effect from today, was upon him attaining the retirement age of 60.

Zainal Abidin, a civil engineer by training, was appointed as DNeX's group MD in June 2014.

Prior to this, he was chief executive officer at Main Market-listed independent water and power producer Malakoff Corp Bhd. Before that, he spent 28 years with ExxonMobil in various managerial and leadership roles, worldwide.

According to DNeX's annual report, Zainal Abidin has a 20.7% indirect stake in the company, held through his spouse Rusmin Jaafar and by virtue of his 78% shareholdings in Arcadia Acres Sdn Bhd.

Shares in DNeX settled unchanged today at 28 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM492.25 million, after 9.81 million shares were done.
