Allianz General Insurance Company (M) Bhd has three digital insurance products that are exclusively available via its website, Allianz Online. Customers will able to get quotes for their insurance plans before being directed to their preferred agent, says head of digital innovation and special projects Linda Lor.

"Digital insurance products have to be simple and straightforward so they can be sold online," she notes.

The first product, Allianz Flight Care, provides compensation of RM50 if a domestic flight is delayed for more than 30 minutes. The coverage also applies if the rescheduled flight is delayed again for the same duration. The premium charged for this policy is RM10 and the claim payout is credited into the policyholders' bank account within three working days.

"Nobody likes flight delays. With Allianz Flight Care, customers pocket RM50 at the 31st minute of a domestic flight delay. The best part of the deal is the automatic claim payout process. If the flight is delayed for more than 30 minutes, the money is credited directly into the customer's account without any need for submission of documents," says Lor.

Allianz Flight Care offers customers the coverage option of one-way or round trips for the lone traveller or the traveller and up to five family members. The policy can be purchased on Allianz Online 24 hours before the departure of a domestic flight. However, a stamp duty of RM10 is charged for each flight.

Its second digital insurance product, Allianz i-HospitalCash, provides daily income should the policyholder be hospitalised locally or overseas due to an accident or illness while Allianz i-EssentialCover is an affordable life insurance plan that covers death or total and permanent disability.

Lim Li Meng, chief sales officer (partnership distribution) at Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd, says income replacement is often overlooked when people buy insurance, but it should really be a priority as it is one's biggest financial asset and it pays for everything, from groceries to mortgages.

"If you earn a daily wage, come from a single-income household or the nature of your work requires frequent travel or manual labour, you should always have a plan B," says Lim.

"The Allianz i-HospitalCash offers you income security if you miss work due to hospitalisation. And it is double income if you are hospitalised overseas, so it makes a real difference," she adds.

"i-EssentialCover empowers consumers by allowing them to examine the coverage and cost, and ultimately choosing the plan that suits their lifestyle."

Through this empowerment, the company hopes that customers will make informed decisions on securing their future income and assets when shopping for a life insurance plan, says Lim. The company is offering these products online to give customers the convenience of instant cost comparisons and hassle-free purchases, she adds.

Allianz Online only requires the applicant's gender and date of birth to provide a quotation. Interested customers can purchase these digital insurance products with a few clicks.

The Allianz i-HospitalCash product offers three flexible plans with the corresponding daily cash benefit amount, namely Plan 100 (RM100), Plan 200 (RM200) and Plan 250 (RM250). The coverage term is five years.

Apart from easing policyholders' financial burden with a daily cash benefit that is payable for 750 days of hospitalisation, the product also offers accidental medical reimbursement, overseas accidental medical benefit and a no claim bonus when the policy matures. The monthly premium ranges from RM30 to RM70, depending on the policyholder's age and gender.

Allianz i-EssentialCover offers three affordable plans and the corresponding coverage for death or total and permanent disability, namely Plan 200 (RM200,000), Plan 300 (RM300,000) and Plan 500 (RM500,000). The coverage term is 10 years and the monthly premium ranges from RM38 to RM612, depending on the policyholder's age and gender.
