KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Oil and gas services provider Dialog Group Bhd has redesignated Chan Yew Kai as its executive deputy chairman from his previous position as president and chief operating officer, with effect from Oct 10, 2014.

In separate filings with Bursa Malaysia today, Dialog said its board of directors had on Oct 10 approved the promotion of Chan to the new position, while Tan Sri Dr Ngau Boon Keat would remain as executive chairman of the company.

“The new organisation will see Mr Chan being more involved in dealing with business strategies and new ventures. Tan Sri Dr Ngau will continue with steering Dialog on its vision,” it said.

Chan, 60, was first appointed to Dialog board on Sept 23, 2005 when he took the position of deputy group managing director of the group before becoming the group’s president and chief operating officer on Nov 1, 2009.

Following Chan’s new appointment, Mustaffa Kamal Abu Bakar  has been promoted to the post of chief operating officer.

Mustaffa Kamal joined Dialog in 2001. Aged 50, the mechanical engineering graduate first joined Dialog in 2001 as director of business development and later became the chief executive officer of Dialog E & C Sdn Bhd and Dialog Plant Services Sdn Bhd. He was then promoted to the post of group managing director for the Malaysia business operations on Nov 1, 2009.
