KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 13): Investigations into state-owned investment fund 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) have revealed that US$972 million (RM2.973 billion) in funds flowed into former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s AmIslamic account, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said today.

Noor Rashid said the money were deposited into Najib's account through three transactions, involving three companies, namely Good Star, Aabar and Tanore.

“To date, the police have also detected 132 transactions of illegal funds connected to 1MDB and further investigations are on-going,” he added.

“The investigations involve local and overseas witnesses and it is very difficult because it requires the cooperation of affected countries for it to be completed,” he told a press conference on the development of the investigations into 1MDB here.

Nevertheless, Noor Rashid said statements have been recorded from 64 witnesses including Najib and his daughter Nooryana Najwa Najib to assist in the investigations into the case.
