KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 27): After enduring a marathon of more than 12 hours of questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday, wife of former PM Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor may soon have to face the police.

According to a report by The Malaysian Insight (TMI) news portal, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said she will be summoned to identify jewellery and other items seized at several homes belonging to the couple.

“We will call her up to identify and confirm the items when she is available. The process involves identifying the item, the manufacturers,” Rashid was reported as saying today.

The seized valuables and items were reportedly valued at more than RM1 billion. The action is part of the police’s probe into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) affair.

He, however, did not say when Rosmah would be called in.

Rosmah arrived at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya yesterday morning before 10am and only left at 10.43pm the same day.

According to a source, Rosmah had requested for an extended questioning session so that she would not need to be summoned repeatedly.

Bernama reported that MACC had allowed Rosmah to stop giving her statement at 6.30pm and to resume the process the next day, but she chose to continue.

Meanwhile, Rashid also revealed that Najib may face more charges as the police continue to investigate the 1MDB scandal.

“Yes. I have said in my previous press statement that we are still probing under Section 409 (of the Penal Code under criminal breach of trust by a public servant).

“We are still probing under anti-money laundering laws. Many more probes are underway.

“This is a tough investigation with parts of it overseas, and we have to go through the attorney-generals of foreign countries like the US, Switzerland and Singapore,” TMI reported Rashid as saying.

Najib already has 32 charges related to the 1MDB scandal and the RM2.6 billion donation deposited into his personal bank account slapped on him.
