KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 24): UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was questioned over his claim that the RM116.7 million seized in raids on properties lined to former UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak belonged to the party.

Bernama reported that Ahmad Zahid arrived at KPJ Tower, Jalan Tun Razak here, which houses Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department (JSJK) at about 2.30pm today.

Ahmad Zahid's statement was taken by an officer of the Anti-Money Laundering Crime Investigation Team (AMLA), the Secretariat of the Inspector General of Police of Bukit Aman, and the questioning session lasted for one and a half hours.

Bernama reported that the police will call in some more UMNO leaders if necessary to assist in investigating the case.

UMNO has filed an application at the Kuala Lumpur High Court seeking a declaration that the seizure of the cash on May 17, 2018 at the various properties was unlawful and UMNO sought an order for the RM116.7 million to be returned to the party.

On Oct 15, the Government and the police filed an application to strike out the suit, and requested that it be heard before the defence is filed.
