KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 6):  A Johor Umno delegate today wants the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to resolve their respective problems so that they would not become a liability to the BN.

Parit Sulong Umno head Datuk Zulkurnain Kamisan said the BN component parties must regain the support of the Chinese and other communities for Umno so that the BN could continue to be in power after the 14th general election (GE14).

"Sometimes, it seems strange why it is so difficult for the Chinese to support the BN, where is the fault of our partners, we cannot allow this to go on.

"We are certain they (component parties) will rise again from this convolution, resolve the present problems including the internal party problems, regain the support of the Chinese for the BN," he said.

He said this when debating the motion on the presidential policy speech at the Umno General Assembly 2013 at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here today.

Zulkurnain said if all the races continue to support the BN, it was not impossible for the BN to win in style by obtaining a two-third majority in the next general election.

He said Umno's success in increasing the number of seats won in the recent GE13 should be emulated by the other parties in the BN because the transformation carried out by the BN was to fulfill the current demands and aspirations of the rakyat.

Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan Umno delegate wanted the party to speed up approval in the registration of new members because there were allegations that it took four to five years to approve the registration.

Rasah Umno division head Datuk Hasim Rusdi said the unreasonable delay must be overcome to ensure that the new members, especially the younger generation, did not lose interest in joining Umno.

He said Umno must increase the membership especially to strengthen the party machinery for the GE14 which would decide the survival of the party.
