KUALA LUMPUR (June 8): CIMB Investment Bank Bhd said today it is confident on Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd's succession plan. This is because Astro is expected to continue with its current business direction despite the pay-TV operator's change in leadership, CIMB said.

Yesterday, Astro said group chief executive officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan had given notice of her resignation, which will take effect from Jan 31, 2019. Astro said Rohana's resignation notice was due to her intention "to pursue other goals".

In line with the group's succession plan, Astro said its board had approved the Henry Tan's appointment as Rohana's successor.

Today, CIMB wrote in a note: "While we are slightly disappointed with Rohana's imminent departure, we are confident with the succession plan. Tan has been with Astro for 10 years, and is an experienced hand in Malaysia's media industry."
