KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 29): Christopher Lee Fix has been appointed to the board of directors of Bursa Malaysia subsidiary Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Bhd (BMD) and its clearing house, Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Clearing Bhd (BMDC).

In a statement, Bursa Malaysia said Fix's appointment was nominated by Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group Inc (CME Group) which owns 25% shareholding in BMD. His appointment took effect on Nov 27, 2017 in place of Bryan Thomas Durkin who resigned from the BMD and BMDC Boards on the same day.

Fix currently serves as the managing director, Asia Pacific at CME Group. He is responsible for leading CME Group's initiatives to expand its presence in the region, including its partnerships with regional exchanges, delivering growth strategy, and developing benchmark products and services to meet the needs of current and prospective clients.

As at Nov 27, the board of directors of BMD and BMDC consisted of three nominee directors of Bursa Malaysia, one nominee director of CME Group, and one independent director.

They are Bursa Malaysia's chief executive officer and executive director Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan, its independent non-executive director Datuk Chay Wai Leong, non-executive director and public interest director Datin Mariam Prudence Yusof, Fix and Bill Herder, an independent director with experience in derivatives industry.
