KUALA LUMPUR: Chin Teck Plantations Bhd's net profit for the fourth quarter ended Aug 31, 2009 fell 50% to RM14.94 million from RM30.08 million a year ago due to lower average selling prices of fresh fruit bunches, crude palm oil and palm kernel.

"When compared with the quarter a year ago and 12-months period, revenue and overall profit after taxation fell in the 4Q and 12 months under review fell significantly mainly due to the substantial decline in the average selling prices of fresh fruit bunches, crude palm oil and palm kernel," it said.

Chin Teck said the group's financial performance for the year ending Aug 31, 2010 would hinge on the volatility of the selling price of CPO. Overall, the group expected the financial year for FY ending Aug 31, 2010 to be satisfactory.
