KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 2): BSL Corp Bhd is establishing a 51:49 joint venture (JV) with Wong Sze Chien to explore acquisition, investment and development opportunities in properties.

BSL said it intends to diversify its income stream and the proposed JV will provide it with a new business opportunity, of which it is expected to provide an additional revenue stream to BSL Group and diversify its earning base.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, BSL said it has entered into a JV agreement with Wong to form a JV company called BSL Development Sdn Bhd for the purpose.

It added that BSL Development is expected to contribute positively to BSL Group’s future earnings and improve its financial position, which will enhance shareholders’ value and future prospects of the group.

"The proposed JV will not have any effect on the share capital and substantial shareholders’ shareholdings of the company," said BSL.

BSL shares gained two sen or 3.33% to close at 62 sen today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM59.92 million. Year-to-date, the stock has gained 93.75% from 32 sen on Jan 3.
