KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): The international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) amounted to US$103.6 billion as at Feb 15, down by a marginal 0.1% from US$103.7 billion as at Jan 30.

In a statement today, the central bank said the reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.1 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the short-term external debt.

Foreign currency reserves comprised the biggest portion of reserves at US$97 billion. International Monetary Fund reserves position stood at US$800 million.
Special drawing rights were at US$1.2 billion, gold was at US$1.5 billion and other reserve assets were at US$3.1 billion.
