KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 14): Bioalpha Holdings Bhd is optimistic its export sales will continue to expand at a double-digit growth rate, as the group intends to leverage off existing export opportunities in China to reach neighbouring countries, moving forward.

“To further grow our export sales, we see Xinjiang as a hub to penetrate neighbouring countries with Muslim population such as Mongolia, India, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. In fact, we have recently just shipped our first batch of health supplements to Inner Mongolia. We are optimistic on our prospects moving forward and believe that our export sales will continue to expand at double-digit growth rate,” managing director of Bioalpha, William Hon, said in a statement today.

To recap, the group has identified a niche opportunity to supply Halal-certified health supplements to the Muslim-populated provinces in Xinjiang, Qinghai, Shaanxi and Gansu.

The group had recently launched a series of new health supplement products in China during the second half of the year, the statement added.

The newly-launched products range from supplements that boost immunity, enhance aesthetics to functional foods such as tea and coffee with indigenous herbs. As they are all Halal-certified, the group aims to target its products to address the needs of the population in the Muslim-majority provinces in China, which are currently underserved, the group said.

“The launch of our latest products reflects our commitment to grow our presence in China. We are confident that these products will be well-received by our target market, as our team has conducted thorough research and survey to determine the local preferences. We have a capable and agile in-house research & development team who can respond swiftly to market needs and create formulations that are tailored to local taste buds,” Hon said.

At 2.42pm, Bioalpha fell 2% or 0.5 sen to 24.5 sen, with 1.77 million shares traded.
