<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said its subsidiary Bintai Kindenko Myanmar Co was awarded the contract by Soilbuild Myanmar Co Ltd on May 28.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>The contract is for two developments — Somerset Serviced Apartment and 68 Residence — in Bahan township in Yangon.</p></div><div class=inPageAd id=div-gpt-ad-inpage></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>“No major risk is foreseeable on the contract except for currency risk and it is a non-renewable construction contract with fixed contract period,” said Bintai Kinden.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>The group expects the work to be completed by July 2018.</p></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner><p>Bintai Kinden’s shares closed 0.5 sen or 2.38% lower at 20.5 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM59.36 million.</p></div>

CIMB Thai Bank PCL’s net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024 (1QFY2024) dropped 24.6% year-on-year to 626.1 million baht from 830.1 million baht, as it reported lower operating income and higher expenses.  

The group recorded an 8.4% drop in operating income and an 11.8% increase in operating expenses. The effects of these were partially offset by a 36.9% decline in expected credit loss, according to CIMB Thai president and chief executive officer Paul Wong Chee Kin in a statement. CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has a 94.83% interest in CIMB Thai.
