KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): AirAsia Bhd's digital wallet provider BigPay is going to be a huge Asean fintech, said the airline's group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

Tweeting this morning from his handle @tonyfernandes, he said "At Visa Senior client meeting. Excellent for @bigpaymeapp. This is going to be a huge Asean Fintech. Our investment in payment and Fintech with our data is great timing. @Visa is very impressive, humble and values [its] partners. Kudos to @Visa."

BigPay is available in Malaysia and is a licensed e-money issuer, regulated by Bank Negara Malaysia.

Its app allows its users to manage money on the go from their smartphone.

Users would be able to see their transactions in real-time, add photo receipts to purchases, track monthly spending, freeze their card as well as send money to friends and family for free.

At 11.18am, AirAsia shares dipped 0.46% or 2 sen to RM4.38 with 2.11 million shares traded.
